I'm not sure how many coxing poems there are out there, but the only thing I ever seem to be able to write for writing classes is crew stuff, and I figured I'd put this up there to see if anyone would like to read about coxing in "fancy language". Enjoy, and good spring seasons to all!
Mere words seemingly begin the escape- Intense calls pushing, forcing, urging on Reaching deep to find the energy tap Of bodies surging forward to the dawn. But those whose labors thrust the shell upward Must feel a sense of flying quite unlike The oar-watcher who sees boat-wings outspread And waiting, hovering, for time to strike. When blades can hit still water underneath- With driving force to push hard towards the stern While making black liquid sink down beneath The sleek shell lifting up as oars return. Go - glide remembering what's come before And yet soar looking forward even more.
